A Cathedral Christmas… From Down Under!

Cathedrals are sacred places aren’t they? What’s unique about them is the amount of incredible richness in each of their images when you project them using Environmental Projection! They have always been some of the more popular images on our site too. It has a lot to do with those exact words; sacred, beauty, majesty. The most amazing part about using a cathedral image in Environmental Projection or multi-screen is that you are able to virtually transport your entire audience and place them in the pews of some of these cathedrals… Talk about sacred! You’re actually bringing history, awe and reverence to them!

So with this mindset today, we thought it would be fun to just see if there was someone doing architectural projection on the front or side of a Cathedral. Since this is somewhat of the new thing to do this year… we didnt have much trouble finding a video on YouTube for you. Best of all… it’s from our friends down under in Sydney, Australia. This is their annual christmas program, but this year it had a twist… projection.

Take a look at what Sydney did on the front of St. Mary’s Cathedral and enjoy today’s “Cathedral Christmas!”

A Kairos ‘Single-Screen’ Christmas

There’s a ministry right down the road from our offices in Nashville… It’s called Kairos. They meet every tuesday night and it’s nothing short of incredible. They have been able to be foster community among college students and young adults in a unique way. The service is actually led by the senior pastor of the church as well! Every once in a while they do Environmental Projection… mostly for night of worship events which happen about 4-6 times a year. But every christmas they do a special service called “A Kairos Christmas.”

It’s not much different than most churches, but our friend Stephen Proctor helped out last year and was able to capture the worship on his flip. What I love about this and why we wanted to share this here is that it only shows one screen. We have had a lot of fun sharing videos that showcase very elaborate setups with really wide projection, but we haven’t shown any single screen content.

As many of you know, TripleWide Media actually gives you three sizes with every purchase (Triple-Wide, Double-Wide AND Single-Wide). So we thought it would be fitting to showcase a christmas program that used projection as a backdrop but only used the single-screen versions.

You may not be able to do Environmental or multi-screen this Christmas due to planning, money or (more…)

A TripleWide Christmas…

Since we began the “Transform Christmas” campaign 3 weeks ago, we’ve had a few friends of ours help us share some inspiration. We’ve already heard from some… but today we have another TripleWide Producer helping us with some details on a production they did last year during Christmas. So take a look at what producer Nicholas Rivero did last year.

Last Christmas, my good friend Jason Norris and I had the chance put on a triple-wide christmas for a church in Birmingham, AL.

The church, Hunter Street Baptist, has been putting on events every Christmas season, but on the media side, they’ve always stuck to the standard two screens, left and right. The church is quite familiar with technology and has a rather impressive broadcast video setup, to say the least. But last year, they wanted to “spruce” up their yearly Christmas event by adding some sort of video canvas to (more…)

Inspiration – Outside Christmas Projection

We have shown some incredible videos of projection outside, like the Disneyland, Disney World, Saks Fifth Avenue and the architectural projection video we posted last week. What we haven’t shown is some tangible ideas of how to do this in your space… so we scoured the web to find some pictures of churches who have done outside Environmental Projection. We’re also going to help as much as we can to let you understand how they did this.

First – I need to thank Stephen Proctor and Camron Ware for letting us use these pictures… make sure to check out their sites and follow them on twitter!

1. Outdoor projection at FUMC Coppell. By Visual Worshiper.

In this example, they used 3 Hitatchi 2500-3000 lumen projectors, ProPresenter and a TripleHead2go. Pretty basic setup but decided to share some holiday joy with their neighborhood with some music and fun visuals. I should note that this setup was a bit more entertainment than an actual worship service as far as I am aware of… however maybe something you can consider to spread a bit of holiday cheer to your community!

Transforming Christmas Before & Afters

With the whole Transforming Christmas movement almost halfway over we thought it would be fun to share a few before and after pictures with you. This may give you a little bit more fuel to encourage your board or deacons to approve the budget on an environmental projection setup or content, or this may just show you the impact of what the TripleWide community is making in our cities.

These are from our sister company, Orange Thread Live Events, of a few past events they have done. Hope you enjoy:

A Snow White Christmas

If you have been around our community for a little while I’m sure you have heard us give shout outs to Camron Ware, creative visualist and blogger at VisualWorshiper.com. He is one of the leaders in Environmental Projection without question, as he can be seen at conferences all across the US teaching on visual worship, lighting and using imagery to transform worship spaces.

We asked him to share with us about how and how has helped other churches Transform Christmas. He sent us some pictures from First United Methodist Church Mansfield, a church he installed Environmental Projection in a few years ago. The pictures are pretty incredible.

He used 3 projectors, PVP, mac laptop, TripleHead2Go and a little bit of content that he had from all over the place, very little of which was “triple wide” resolution. Check out the result: (more…)
